TruGolf E6 Apex V1.5.0.39 PC Performance Test Results

Published on January 19, 2026

Introduction

E6 Apex is quite a heavy software, which is difficult to run on maximum graphical settings even for the most powerful hardware. That being said, it is possible to have a great experience using this software if you know how to properly configure it.

Testing Methodology

We tested this software at both the Medium and Epic settings, at 1080p and 4k, except in the case of the 5060. The 5060 was unable to achieve at least 60fps on Medium settings, so it was tested on Low and Epic.

The Medium preset is a significant upgrade over Low, and Medium and High look quite similar.

Other notes:

  • Tested simulated shots in software, not using a launch monitor
  • Did a flyover at each hole before playing
  • Played on Teeth of the Dog, Pebble Beach, Cabot Links (Cliffs Course), and Teton Pines Country Club
  • Visuals and performance in the Premium courses are better than in the On-Demand courses

Results and Conclusion:

This software will require higher end hardware to run smoothly. If 1080p is your target resolution, a 5070 should be good for around 60fps on High settings, but only around 45fps on the Epic preset. If you’d rather play in 4k, you’ll have the best experience with a 5080. Using the Epic preset on 4k is not recommended, as you’ll encounter some stuttering, but it can handle High and Medium settings and still be playable.

Our benchmark for the best experience is typically 60fps, which is possible to achieve in many scenarios in this software. However, the software gives an option in the graphical settings to limit fps to 30. Your experience will still be good if you use this setting, and it enables you to avoid screen tearing.  An important thing to know when deciding on a computer run Apex is that this software suffers from some stuttering issues (as mentioned above), which are more noticeable at low framerates. If the framerate is capped from 60 or higher down to 30 using this 30fps graphical setting, then you won’t notice the stuttering, but if your hardware just barely puts out 30fps as it is, then the stuttering becomes quite noticeable.

SurfThing computers are built and tested with Golf Simulation Software specifically in mind. Our in depth testing has helped home users and business owners decide which computers to run in well over 3000 simulators nationwide. SurfThing performed its testing on all PC models manufactured by SurfThing at the time of the article release, helping customers know exactly the kind of performance they will get on currently available computer hardware.
